Summary

The Forest Company is a closed-ended investment company, combining long-term capital appreciation, income yield, and significant social impact. The Company focuses on forest plantations in areas with high biological growth rates, such as Brazil and Colombia. The Forest Company’s shareholders consist of institutional investors, family offices, and management. Thus far, the Company has committed capital to six projects which include both greenfield and standing plantations located in Brazil and Colombia. Since 2010, the Company has paid out USD 60.2 million in dividends to its shareholders.

We seek to invest in forestry projects that are or will be certified by a reputable forest management certification scheme. We do not acquire native forest for harvesting.

Since inception the Company has built a diversified timberland portfolio in terms of age, class and species that is intended to maximise the risk/return profile. We believe that this approach will generate both long-term capital appreciation for shareholders and an attractive and sustainable income yield.  In addition to the financial return the Company’s investments have had a significant positive impact on the local economy – combining social impact with financial returns.

The portfolio generates about 1 million m3 in harvesting every year and employs about 1,000 people in direct or indirect jobs. Further, we have built a strong team between our company directors and our investment manager, totalling over 120 years of forestry experience.

Timber Capital Limited is the investment manager to The Forest Company.
