The Forest Company officially committed to contribute actively to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 2018. Since then we are part of the global agenda from the United Nations aimed to develop a sustainable future for all, an effort signed by 193 member states in 2015.
Given that sustainability lies at the core of our activities, The Forest Company has developed an Impact Strategy, which is based on an extensive assessment of what we do. We revised our values and principles, and carried out an in-depth analysis of our operations, value chains and stakeholders to define our material aspects. We included all possible internalities related to environmental, social and financial sustainability, as well as externalities to evaluate what is important for society, in our business, as well as on national and international platforms. By doing this, we identified the areas in which we can have the greatest impact.
Subsequently, we reviewed all 17 SDGs and targets and linked them to our materiality aspects. We prioritised the five SDGs that are most relevant for our Company and focus our efforts where we can maximise the impact. Nevertheless, the SDGs and their targets are highly interconnected; therefore, while focusing on the selected SDGs, we are de facto contributing to all of them. |
